All my metaphors fell flat

Lookit! They're blooooooming.

And the one time a cat went up and nosed around, it cause a flower to burst open in bloom right in front of us. Mystical magical.

Anyway, you want to hear a story about about a chat I had with my mom? Ok.

We were in her adorable little mom-car (she was being nice enough to roll with me to Frankfort to buy old stuff) when this happened:

Mom: What are you doing for New Year's Eve?
Me: We're going to see Jens Lekman at the Empty Bottle.
Mom: Oh. I don't think I know him. But that sounds nice.
Me: Yeah, should be fun.
Mom: Hey, do you like that guy Hans Johansen?
Me: Um. Never heard of him.
Mom: Oh yeah? He's on Pandora all the time when I listen to Dave Matthews.
Me: Weird. Yeah, I can't say I've heard of him.

about a minute passes...

Me: WAIT. Are you talking about Jack Johnson?
Mom: Oh yeah, that's him! I like that guy.

Bye guys! Have a great snowy Wednesday night.

Haha! Moms love him! We went to Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit a couple of years back and he played. Chris' mom got a hug crush on Hans Johansen that night.

Jens Lekman and blooming bulbs! Love that bit about the cat magic. I saw Jens L on Sunday night at the Viaduct, he's about the best ever. (Unlike my bulbs, which are at a standstill...)

Aw, aren't moms are the cutest?

Not to worry. Two of mine are total duds and haven't done anything. Home Depot is dead to me (not really).

You made me laugh.

Your flowers made me smile.

That is an amazing conversation. Sounds exactly like my mum.
And my paperwhites just bloomed, too!
And thank GOD you didn't blog much since Christmas, because I haven't read any of them for almost 2 weeks now and I'm trying to catch up but my head's about to explode. That's right, I'm thanking you for not writing :)

I'm always up for a good Mom/Music mashup, thanks! I have one to add:

When I was in high school, my Mom asked me if I was a fan of the "Flying Cantaloupes" and it was later discovered that she was referring to the "Smashing Pumpkins."

That is hilarious, Nate! Someone needs to make a book of these.

Here's another: My mom will never believe the lyrics to the Aerosmith song aren't "Do the funky lady..."

Also, because she's cool, she downloaded the Department of Eagles album for me but labeled it "Desperate Eagles," which sounds like some sort of bad television show about government workers in peril.
